From January 1st 2016, the assessment of the Coach in Running Fitness course will include an online knowledge test (including health and safety) and a practical assessment. The Coach in Running Fitness 2016 Online Knowledge Test can be accessed and completed at any point in time but must be completed to pass the qualification. The practical assessment is slightly longer and will require candidates to bring along a Mesocycle plan, in addition to their session plan. The plan will be discussed as part of an extended review at the Observed Practical Assessment (OPA) day.

On this page you will find all the ‘pre course’ and ‘post course’ resources you will need to ensure success on the Coach in Running Fitness Award.

Please see the DOCUMENTS block at the top right hand side of this page to quickly access all the documents referenced in one location.

Pre Course Resources

Prior to attending the Coach in Running Fitness Award you should refresh your memory of the material in the post course material for the Leadership in Running Fitness award (and / or the Coaching Assistant award).

If you have previously attended the Coaching Assistant course, you are strongly advised to re-read your workbook notes and revisit the uLearn Coaching Assistant Resources page to refresh your memory! Specifically you should look at pages 58-72 of Coaching Assistant Manual to review the various intervention strategies a coach can implement.

Support Coach Resources

In this section you can find resources that support the Coach in Running Fitness award coaching qualification.

As a Support Coach you will assist learning by being a “critical friend”, reinforcing technical information (What 2 Coach) and supporting across coaching process skills (How 2 Coach), along with signposting other formal or informal learning opportunities to the Coach.

This will help the developing Coach in Running Fitness prepare for all aspects of their assessment. The Support Coach section aims to provide a supportive environment to enable coaches to practice what was learnt on course.

Without your assistance the development of these Coaches would not be possible, so thank you for your help and support in this.
