workshop 1 - peaking for performance: Jenny Meadows

Facilitated by Jenny Meadows, this session is aimed at runners who are looking to improve their performance levels and want to aim towards key events throughout the season.

Jenny will talk through some of the strategies and training plans she has adopted in her career to ensure she is in optimal condition for key events. She will lead a facilitated discussion to ensure some of these strategies can be adopted by runners of all abilities in order for them to maximise their performances at key stages of the season.

workshop 2: managing a growing club: Chris Hollingshead

This workshop is designed to support leaders and coaches, and will be facilitated by Chris Hollingshead.

Chris has many years experience working with clubs of all shapes and sizes, and will bring this experience into a facilitated discussion that will be aimed at Run Leaders and Coaches. The rapid growth we have seen in the sport over the last few years has brought it’s challenges to running clubs who are seeing membership numbers rise, and are facing challenges to be able to offer sessions that can cater for the volume and variety of runners needs.

Chris who will look at strategies to overcome these challenges and also ensure clubs are able to share challenges and successes in overcoming them .

workshop 3: club management - an introduction to EA products and services

Facilitated by EA Club Support Managers, this session is aimed at club administrators and is an opportunity for you to hear about the products and support services that EA have to offer. We will bring these to life and discuss specific challenges being faced by clubs and look at solutions from EA and from other clubs.

meet the speakers

Jenny Meadows is one of Britain’s most successful female athletes. Jenny started her international career in 2000 as part of Great Britain Juniors 4x400m relay team when they became World Junior Champions.

In 2008 Jenny won the European Team Cup and was part of the Olympic team in Beijing. Jenny then set about establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with not only on the national circuit but on the international arena at large.

Her break through came at the 2009 World Outdoor Championships in Berlin where she won a magnificent bronze medal in a life-time best of 1:57.93 and became the 3rd fastest British women of all time. Since Berlin, Jenny has gone from strength to strength; improving her indoor PB first at the Birmingham Grand Prix in February 2010 and becoming the British Indoor record holder, then again at the World Indoor Championships in Doha where she was awarded the captaincy of the Great Britain team and claimed the Silver medal in a time of 1:58:43.

In 2011 at the European Indoor Championships Jenny won Gold for the individual event and silver as part of the 4x400m relay. That year she became British Champion outdoors and won the Diamond League Series.

After cruel injuries in 2012 and 2013, which forced Jenny to miss competing in her home Olympics, Jenny made a return to competitive action to become Commonwealth Games finalist in 2014 and the world leader in the Women’s 800m indoors in 2015, before announcing her retirement in 2016.

Chris Hollinshead has delivered the Run Leader development days since conception in 2015. As lead tutor for the LiRF qualification he has worked with both new and established leaders and coaches for many years. Chris is lead endurance coach for the Paralympic talent development camps, Mentor on the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) Programme for endurance athletes and is an Endurance coach for his resident club Cannock and Stafford AC
